Brief Background and facts of the case
The 47th GST Council meeting was held on 28th and 29th June 2022 wherein, various recommendations were made for changes in GST law and procedure, rationalisation of GST rates on various goods and services etc. Pursuant to the GST Council meeting, the Central Government has issued notifications bearing no. from 09/2022 to 14/2022 – Central Tax dated July 5, 2022, to implement the changes recommended with regard to the GST law and procedure. Furthermore, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has issued Circulars bearing no. from 170/02/2022-GST to 176/08/2022-GST dated July 6, 2022, providing clarification on various issues.
